How Do I Get Started on my Thigh Lift?
The first step in the thigh lift process is a consultation with Dr. Ogilvie at his Chicago area office. During your consultation, you’ll discuss your desired final results and the best way to achieve them. Because Dr. Ogilvie believes in patient-centered approach, he will take the time to ensure all of your questions are answered and you understand all aspects of your procedure.
Candidates seeking out thigh lift procedures are usually interested in eliminating areas of discomfort from around their legs. As you age, areas of fat can begin to sag out of place. Additionally, your skin loses elasticity, meaning that excess skin will no longer bounce back. Together, these two factors can make the tissue on the legs look lumpy or aged, and patients can feel self-conscious about their appearance.
If you want to know more about thigh lift surgery and what Dr. Ogilvie can do to help your legs appear smoother and younger, contact our offices to schedule a consultation. Generally speaking, good candidates for thigh lift procedures will:
Thigh lift surgery is performed on an outpatient basis, meaning patients will typically be able to return home on the same day that their procedure is performed. In general, thigh lift surgery will follow these steps:
Anesthesia — Thigh lift procedures can be performed either under general anesthesia or a local anesthesia and sedative mixture. You will discuss all of your anesthesia options with Dr. Ogilvie well before your surgery takes place.
Incision – The primary incision for a thigh lift involves an elliptical excision of skin and fat along the medial thigh, which may extend into the groin or the inner knee as necessary. Once the incision is made, Dr. Ogilvie will remove unwanted skin and fat–or reposition fat as necessary. Incisions are closed using specialized sutures.
Recovery from thigh lift procedures can take several weeks, but the specific timeline will depend on your individual body and experience. Swelling and bruising may persist for several weeks. Once swelling subsides, patients will begin to notice smoother, more youthful looking thighs. Fat will be repositioned and the overall aesthetic of the thigh will look much more athletic and trim.
A thigh lift can do a lot to bring about a transformation of the legs, leading to improvements in confidence and self esteem in patients. If you have questions about what a thigh lift procedure can do to help improve the appearance of your upper legs, contact Dr. Ogilvie to schedule a consultation at his Chicago area office.

Dr. Ogilvie is very professional and compassionate. I trusted and felt comfortable with him from our first consultation. He took the time to explain the process and what I should expect (from facial fillers). I appreciated the fact that he did not try to recommend any procedures I did not need or want. Dr. Ogilvie thoroughly and patiently answered my questions. I always felt as if I was his only patient. I am so happy with my results. He placed the filler perfectly and my results were exactly what I wanted. What a great experience!
