Introduction to

Butt Lift

There are two methods used to improve the buttock silhouette. The first method, which is less popular, involves the use of silicone implants. The second, more popular method involves the use of transferred fat.

Often known as a Brazilian Butt Lift, this fat transfer method is capable of producing results that look and feel significantly more natural, without the potential complications of implant placement.

Who is a Good Candidate

for Butt Lift?

Most candidates for a butt lift procedure are looking to increase the overall size and volume of the buttocks, while paying special attention to the overall shape as well. A butt lift is designed to make the rear end appear firmer and rounder, either via fat injections (the so-called Brazilian Butt Lift) or silicone implants. Which butt lift technique works best for you will be determined by Dr. Ogilvie, based on your preferences and your desired final outcome.

Brazilian Butt Lift techniques rely on liposuction to collect donor fat material for injections. Candidates for butt lift will typically have an area in mind that they’d like to see slimmed down a bit (that’s why Brazilian Butt Lift is often considered a two-for-one or bonus plastic surgery procedure).

Right For Me?

In general, good candidates for a butt lift will:

  • Want to increase the size of their buttocks.
  • Want to improve the overall shape of the butt (in most cases, ensuring a round, natural looking shape).
  • Have sufficient excess fat to provide donor tissue, in cases of Brazilian Butt Lift.
  • Be generally healthy enough for surgery.
  • Have realistic expectations about what butt lift will achieve.
  • Maintain a relatively stable weight.

The Butt

Lift Procedure

There are two distinct butt lift methods–one involving fat injections and the other involving the insertion of silicone implants. Both procedures are performed on an outpatient basis, so patients are allowed to return home the same day as their procedure.

A Butt Lift With Implants — If your butt lift procedure requires implants, two small incisions will be made along the upper buttock cleft and the implants then placed below the gluteus maxiums muscle. Incisions are closed with sutures and the patient is allowed to return home. Swelling may take several weeks to subside, but once it does, patients will notice a significantly larger and rounder buttocks area.

A Butt Lift with Fat Injections — During a butt lift with fat injections, small incisions will be made for liposuction in the desired area. Once fat is removed, it is purified and injected in multiple directions to ensure the fat is evenly distributed and takes evenly across the desired area. Swelling may take several weeks to subside, but once it does, patients will notice a significantly rounder and larger buttocks area that looks and feels almost completely natural.

Dr. Ogilvie

Whichever butt lift procedure you undergo, it will be exceptionally important to be careful not to sleep, sit, or lay on your buttocks during your recovery period, as this may jeopardize your final overall results.

All patients are given individualized recovery instructions. If you want to know more about how a butt lift can help your butt look firmer, rounder, and larger, contact Dr. Ogilvie to schedule a consultation at his Chicago area office.
